Nearly a year has passed since the Aston Martin DBX concept was showcased at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. It took everybody by surprise and gave us all a glimpse into the future of the British brand. The manufacturer is now preparing for the production version of the DBX to enter production and some fascinating details about the car have just emerged.
According to recent reports, the new Aston Martin DBX will be built at the brand’s new factory in St Athan, Wales, which is the result of a £200 million investment. Around 1,000 new jobs were reportedly created thanks to the new factory, where the DBX will be manufactured.
When the DBX concept has made its debut, the brand revealed that the production version would be an electric crossover GT. The brand has never produced an electric car before therefore the DBX will mark Aston Martin’s very first electric crossover.
Much hasn’t been revealed about the car’s technical specs, however with the 2016 Geneva Motor Show just around the corner, we wouldn’t be surprised if the brand decided to share some details about the car with us.
If the production version of the Aston Martin DBX will look anything like the concept then we’re definitely in for a treat. The recent trend, of popular manufacturers developing vehicles that are powered by electricity, is showing no signs of slowing down. It’s a very exciting time for the car industry at the moment, as car sales are continuing to increase and new technologies are making it possible for manufacturers to experiment with ideas they could’ve never toyed with in the past.
