UK plug-in car grant extended until March 2018

It has just been announced that the UK plug-in car grant will be extended until March 2018. Although this is great news for those interested in plug-in vehicles it was also revealed that the value of the grant will be lower, going from £5000 to £4500.

The UK plug-in car grant was previously extended to February 2016 however in a bid to boost the uptake of hybrid and electric vehicles it has been decided that it would be best if the grant remained in place slightly longer.

Plug-in cars have experienced a growth in popularity in the recent years with more electric cars being produced now than ever before, which is why the government is getting involved.

Not only are plug-in cars better for the environment but they are also much cheaper to run.

The UK plug-in car grant is only a small part of the government’s plan to cut emissions over the next couple of years.

Since its introduction in 2011, 50,000 people have taken advantage of the grant.

Although at the moment the grant is scheduled to stay in place until March 2018, we wouldn’t be surprised if the government decided to extend it once again in 2018.
