The highly-anticipated hard-top Mazda MX-5 RF has finally been unveiled at the 2016 New York Motor Show. It is only the latest, in a line of MX-5 models, spanning all the way back to 1989.
Ever since the vehicle was announced, people have been talking. It’s always exciting when a brand introduces a new version of an existing car because you never know what to expect. On one hand, things could go great, with the vehicle experiencing success and becoming its very own entity, on the other hand however, there’s always the possibility of the vehicle failing and leaving everyone unimpressed.
The all-new RF is a hard-top version of the MX-5 convertible sports a new body, designed to accommodate for the car’s new roof, which according to the brand will be available in either the body colour or “piano-black” to make it stand out a lot more.
As for the engine, that RF will be available with either a 1.5 or 2.0-litre engine, just like the original MX-5.
A lot of the elements from the original MX-5 will be present on the RF version of the car, so it is likely going to appeal to fans of the original.
Whether the RF edition of the MX-5 will be successful remains to be seen. The response so far has been quite positive, therefore we can probably expect the car to do well.
At the moment, the MX-5 RF is scheduled to go on sale in the UK in 2017. Buyers are already lining up to get their hands on the car, which further suggests that the vehicle could prove to be very successful. Read more about Mazda MX-5 RF
